Building: An 8 story building with 103 housing units. The breakdown of unit sizes is:
30 - 1 bedroom
49 -2 bedroom
24 - 3 bedroom
The Housing Units: Vary somewhat in size but approximate square footage is:
1 bedroom units - 600 square feet
2 bedroom units - 800 square feet
3 bedroom units - 1,000 square feet
All 2 and 3-bedroom units have small en-suite storage rooms. All units have storage lockers, and balconies or patios.
Facilities and Amenities:
Laundry: 7 washers, 1 front-loader and 8 dryers. Currently the cost is .50 cents per load, 75 cents for the front-loader.
Daycare: For ages 18 to 42 months. It is run by a separate non-profit society Tiny Tots Daycare. Available to Co-op members as space becomes available.
Parking: Secured underground parking for members with a motor vehicle. The parking garage also contains three secured bicycle storage rooms and three storage rooms with individual storage units.
Meeting Room: A large room used for Co-op meetings and members’ social functions and three outside patios and large lawn area.
Special Feature: One unit (202) on the second floor of the building is designed to house 6 persons in wheelchairs, living communally. Presently being reassessed by the current Board of Directors and no new applications are being accepted at this time.
Some Policies you should know about:
- The pet policy is that no dogs are allowed in the building, but up to two cats per unit are.
- Allocation of units – generally speaking the Co-op’s policies are that 2 bedroom units are for households with one child or for households with 2 adults, 3 bedroom units are for households with 2 or 3 children.
- Members MUST participate in the governance and management of the housing co-op.
Shares: Obligatory shares in the Co-op are $2,000.00, payable before move-in.
Housing Charges: The current charges (as of June 1st 2018) are:
1 bedroom unit- $936.00 per month
2 bedroom unit- $1,147.00 per month
3 bedroom unit- $1,297.00 per month
202 Unit - $750.00 each room.
These housing charges are subject to change annually, on June 1.
Utilities and Insurance: Members pay their own heat, hydro, cablevision, telephone and internet, and must carry household insurance for their car and housing unit.
